The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced it would be raising the business mileage rate to 58 cents per mile effective January 1, 2019. The 2019 rate reflects an increase of 3.5 cents from 2018.
The IRS’ standard mileage rate for business use is based on an annual study of the fixed and variable costs of operating an automobile. Although the IRS sets this rate annually, it is not a mandated reimbursement for all drivers.
