As a significant supporter of the Fostering Financial Education in Maine Schools statewide conference happening on Friday, April 28, the Maine CU Financial Literacy Council encourages Maine credit unions to consider attending the statewide conference. "This is a great conference with content that credit unions can bring back and integrate into their own financial education efforts, as well as an opportunity to meet and network with educators to build potential new partnerships," explained Jon Paradise, Vice President of Governmental and Public Affairs for the Maine Credit Union League. The Conference takes place from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., at the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta. In part because of the support of Maine's credit unions, the fee to attend is only $25.00.
This annual conference was created to bring together educators, counselors, and Maine's financial capability champions in order to support Maine schools in their efforts to promote lifelong financial wellness. This year's conference will feature extensive training opportunities delivered by classroom teachers, national experts, and statewide financial literacy providers. Exhibitors will also be on hand to share their resources and expertise.
Mary Dyer, President of the Maine Jump$tart Coalition, which is coordinating the Conference, spoke enthusiastically about the program. "Our keynote will feature comedic financial speaker Colin Ryan. Colin has performed across North America and Europe, has partnered with National Geographic Television, and was named one of the top 10 youth money presenters in the U.S. We've also got some really informative and timely breakout sessions for attendees."
The Maine Credit Union League will also be promoting the Financial Fitness Fairs, and demonstrating the new online Financial Fitness Fair to all attendees.
