With 110 attendees registered for the Maine Credit Union League's Annual Roundtable on September 22-23, at the Samoset in Rockport, the large turnout is at or near a record. Attendees will be treated to an outstanding, insightful and thought-provoking program featuring a diverse group of speakers and topics.
The Roundtable opens on Tuesday, September 22, with lunch followed by your League's President John Murphy's Roundtable Discussion. Murphy is expected to cover a list of topics including new initiatives, and advocacy highlights and opportunities, as well as lead a discussion of topics from attendees on a variety of issues. Following Murphy, former NCUA Board Chair, Dennis Dollar, will go into greater detail on the topic of regulatory burden, the credit union-regulator relationship, and other challenges facing credit unions. For many attendees, the evening will begin by attending the Maine Credit Union League's Fundraising Reception for Congressman Bruce Poliquin. Individuals who have not yet committed to contributing are welcome, and contributions of any amount are appreciated but are also voluntary. A cocktail reception for other attendees will also be available. Dinner for all participants follows.
On Wednesday, September 23, the Roundtable continues with Lee Weatherington, a popular speaker who presented at your League's Convention in 2013, who will share his strategic expertise and thoughts on the future role of branches and other member touchpoints. A panel of Credit Union CEOs will offer best practices and their thoughts on expanded business lending opportunities and other topics. A late addition to the program is the NCUA's presentation of its Cybersecurity Assessment Tool and its incorporation into the examination process for all Maine credit unions in 2016. After a break for lunch, the Roundtable concludes with Patrick Adams, a credit union CEO and a three-decade veteran of the industry, with a high energy and entertaining session on shifting consumer and member habits and attitudes and the ability of credit unions to embrace and cultivate these changes.
Though the Samoset is booked, there are other hotel options in the area or individuals may come without staying overnight. Register for the Conference by clicking here; email Susan Erlandson; or call your League's Member Services at 800.442.6715.
