With Maine CU Day at the State House less than a week away, registrations from individuals attending the event are coming in at a steady pace. To date, nearly 100 credit union officials have registered to attend this year's event happening Thursday, April 2, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., in the Hall of Flags at the State House in Augusta. However, there is still time to register to attend, and your League would like to see that total continue to grow.
From CEOs and Board Members to management and staff, all credit union officials are invited to attend this event that Tucker Cole, Chair of your League's Political Involvement Committee, calls "a unique opportunity to demonstrate the strength of Maine's credit unions while connecting personally with our legislators." John Murphy, President of your League, agreed, "An important piece of legislative success is having relationships and, with more than one-third of the Legislature turning over every two years, we must continue to not only strengthen existing relationships but build new ones. This involves telling our story to legislators every chance we get; it is very powerful to have legislators see the Hall of Flags filled with credit union officials from across Maine."
In addition to networking and speaking with legislators, attendees will also have a chance to see the Maine House and Senate, and watch proceedings from the balconies in either Chamber. The Maine House and Senate are expected to read a Joint Resolution recognizing Maine's credit unions during the session.
Register now to attend Maine CU Day at the State House, and come for part or all of the two-hour event, whatever works for each attendee's schedule. In order to best match legislators with credit unions in their district, the approximate time each person will be attending is helpful. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.
