Two Former Maine Credit Union Officials Pass Away

The Maine Credit Union Movement lost two individuals recently, who both gave their time, energy and expertise to credit unions.  On Sunday, February 22, Sally Drake, former President/CEO at Seaboard FCU, passed away.  On Wednesday, March 4, Robert Antognoni, who served in various capacities at Gardiner FCU including President/CEO and Chair of the Board, passed away.

Hired in 1965 as a teller, Drake became President/CEO at Seaboard FCU in 1976 and remained in that position until her retirement in 1987.  Her obituary said, "Sally loved her work at the credit union because it gave her the opportunity to meet many people and develop many long term friendships."  Antognoni spent most of his career in education before getting involved with Gardiner FCU, where he worked in a variety of roles including first as a volunteer, then as President/CEO and, finally, as Chair of the Board of Directors before retiring in 1990.  Following his retirement, Bob continued to participate in credit union events and was a frequent golfer in the Annual Maine CU League Convention Golf Tournament for Ending Hunger.

"Sally and Bob were both dedicated to their credit unions, as well as to the League and Maine's credit unions.  On behalf of the entire Maine CU System, we extend condolences to their credit union families, and their personal families," remarked your League's President John Murphy.
