Time To Be Counted: "League Encourages CU Representatives From All Parts Of State To Participate!"

Numbers matter, visibility matters, your presence matters.  As registration for the 2015 Maine Credit Union Day at the State House officially opens, your League is reinforcing the importance and value of having a strong turnout for this year's event happening on Thursday, April 2, at the State House in Augusta.  While there are familiar faces serving in the 127th Maine Legislature, there are also plenty of new faces.  Your League is encouraging credit unions from all points north, south, east and west in Maine to descend upon Augusta for this event which focuses on building and strengthening credit union relationships with legislators.

"Come for a few minutes or stay the full two hours, what really matters is that we have a large turnout of credit union representatives in Augusta for this event.  Legislators hear a lot about the strength and involvement of credit unions, especially with 651,000 Maine consumers belonging to a credit union, so this is an ideal opportunity to demonstrate that by filling the Hall of Flags with credit union representatives," remarked Elise Baldacci, your League's Director of Governmental Affairs.

Of the 186 members of the Maine Legislature, 38% are new members.  "With term limits, the Legislature turns over much more quickly so there is an ongoing need to educate and inform legislators about what credit unions are all about, as well as our important issues.  Credit Union Day at the State House is the perfect setting to meet and greet legislators, and highlight Maine's credit unions," added Baldacci.

There is no cost to attend Credit Union Day at the State House but pre-registration is requested in order to let legislators know when credit unions from their area will be attending.

To attend Maine CU Day at the State House on Thursday, April 2, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., register now online; download a form and fax a list of participants to 207.773.0957; or email Elise Baldacci.  A light lunch and refreshments will be provided to all attendees.
