When the results of the Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger were announced recently, not only did the positive efforts of credit unions receive strong media coverage but so did the issue of hunger in Maine. "The more people learn that hunger exists in every Maine community and that the need in our state is significant, the more that can happen with ending hunger. In addition to raising funds, I applaud credit unions for also raising attention about hunger," said Kristen Miale, President of Good Shepherd Food Bank, to several media outlets when asked to comment on the efforts of credit unions.
Coverage of the record-setting amount raised by Maine's credit unions in the 2014 Campaign was prominently featured on a number of TV and radio outlets, as well as continuing to appear in newspapers in the coming weeks with photos of the luncheon. John Murphy, President of your League, called the coverage an opportunity "to reinforce this significant accomplishment through the 2014 Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger. The commitment that Maine's credit unions have had to ending hunger for more than twenty-five years is quite impressive in and of itself. It was nice to see this dedication featured in many of the news stories that highlighted the Campaign's success."
