As the saying goes, "Once a member, always a member," and for a member of Acadia FCU that certainly rings true. When Madame Marie Maude Marin (known as Madame Maude and pictured here with Acadia FCU staff including President/CEO Dave Desjardins) first joined the credit union back in 1952, Harry S. Truman was the President, Elvis wouldn't take the music world by storm for another three years, and current Acadia FCU President/CEO, Dave Desjardins, wasn't even born yet. Times have certainly changed but Madame Maude hasn't changed her financial institution.
When Madame Maude turned 100 in January, the CU through her a celebration and made her the first inductee into the credit union's newly-created 'Century Club'. For the special occasion, the CU presented Madame Maude with a variety of gifts. "It was really worth my while to come here today," said Madame Maude in French, her primary language, upon receiving her gifts from Acadia FCU.
As part of the special day, Acadia FCU announced that it will celebrate all members who reach this significant milestone in their lives. Century Club inductees will receive gifts which will be of the same value, but may vary depending on the member's living situation. Madame Maude is one of five members of Acadia FCU who has either reached or surpassed the 100-year mark, with two more reaching the milestone later in 2017. The credit union will soon reach out to existing members who turned 100-years-old prior to implementation of the Century Club.
"It brings us great pleasure to do this for our most senior members," said David Desjardins, President / CEO of Acadia FCU. "They are an inspiration to us for all they have weathered throughout their lives, and they deserve to be recognized for that, as well as for their longevity as members of Acadia Federal Credit Union. We truly appreciate and enjoy having them as part of the extended Acadia family."
