As previously reported, credit unions or related organizations represented nearly 20% of the companies and organizations on the 2017 Best Places to Work in Maine list. On Tuesday, October 10, the final rankings were revealed and five Maine CUs placed in the Top 10 in their respective categories, quite an impressive showing for Maine CUs.
“The cooperative and collaborative spirit and structure of credit unions doesn’t just result in great benefits for members but also creates a great work environment. To have so many credit unions and related organizations not only make the list of Best Places to Work in Maine in 2017 but to have a quarter of CUs in the Top 10 reinforces the atmosphere and culture that exists for employees working at a credit union. I am proud of how this showing reflects on the Maine CU System,” remarked Todd Mason, President of the Maine Credit Union League, which, along with its subsidiary, Synergent, was among those named to the 2017 Best Places to Work in Maine list.
“I am really proud of not only our team but to be part of a movement that not only takes care of its members but its employees, too. For so many people, credit unions are much more than a job – they are a career,” stated Jason Lindstrom, President/CEO of Evergreen CU, which rose 29 spots over the previous year’s ranking to #7 in the Medium Employer Category.
The final rankings for Maine CUs were, as follows:
Small Employer Category – Sabattus Regional CU at #5; TruChoice FCU at #7; Oxford FCU at #16; and Trademark FCU at #18.
Medium Employer Category – Down East CU at #4; Evergreen CU at #7; Infinity FCU at #10; cPort CU at #16; Maine State CU at #17; PeoplesChoice CU at #18; York County FCU at #28; Maine CU League/Synergent at #34; University CU at #35; and Town & Country FCU at #37.
