League Mourns the Passing of Representative Raymond Wallace


The League extends our condolences to Representative Raymond Wallace’s family and friends, and of course, to his credit union family at Maine Highlands FCU. We honor his service to our credit union members and the people of Maine.

(Obituary text as listed in the Bangor Daily News) – Raymond A. Wallace, 73, passed away October 9, 2019 at his residence. He was born November 20, 1945 in Dexter, a son of Archie and Doris (Vowles) Wallace. He graduated from Dexter High School in 1964. Raymond married the love of his life Donna (Gardiner) Wallace on October 15, 1965. He joined the Army and was a Vietnam veteran.

After serving in the military Raymond spent 35 years working at Dexter Shoe Company as a patent engineer. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. Raymond served on many community boards including the Maine Highlands Credit Union Supervisory Committee and acting Chaplain for the V.F.W. in Dexter. He was also a longtime member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Dexter. Raymond also served in the Maine State House of Representatives from 2011 to 2018.

In addition to his wife of Dexter; he is survived by his children, Mark and wife Samantha, Scott and wife Nancy; brothers, Linwood and wife Sherrill and Leonard and wife Carol; his grandchildren, Kristen and husband Mike Martin, Caleb and Lileas Wallace; several great grandchildren, including the miracle baby, Elyse Martin.

He was predeceased by 1 brother and four sisters.

A veteran’s service will be held at the V.F.W. hall on Cedar Street in Dexter at 2 P.M. Sunday, October 20. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the V.F. W. Post 4298, P.O. Box 164, Dexter, ME 04930. Those who wish may leave written condolences at CrosbyNeal.com.
