We’ve Hit the Halfway Mark in the Ending Hunger $100,000 Challenge

Have you made a contribution to our $100,000 Challenge? June is more than halfway done, which means we’ve got less than two weeks to reach our fundraising goal to benefit Good Shepherd Food Bank and local food pantries.

If you want to know why we are so motivated to combat hunger in our state, consider the number of people in Maine who struggle to put meals on their tables every day. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service, 13.6% of Maine households are food insecure. This statistic is based on data that was collected pre-pandemic. If you take into account the economic toll that COVID-19 has taken on individuals and families across Maine, the number of food insecure households could be much worse today. That’s why we must provide our hunger-relief partners the strong support they need to keep Mainers fed.

Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger is People Helping People at its core and the $100,000 Challenge is a great way to engage others in our efforts. Make a donation online and challenge someone you know to do the same. No amount is too small and all donations will be recognized on the Campaign’s website.

Time is running out! While you can make a donation to the Campaign throughout the year, our $100,000 Challenge only happens during the month of June. We haven’t reached our goal yet, but with your help, we can meet—if not exceed—this important fundraising milestone.
