Seaboard FCU Teaches Young Members to Save, Spend Wisely, & Give Back

The smiles on the faces of “Zoe’s volunteers” capture the spirit of Seaboard FCU’s first Zoe’s Club event in support of the Bucksport Animal Shelter.

On June 8, Seaboard Federal Credit Union (FCU) hosted its first Zoe’s Club savings event, a rabies clinic, in support of the Bucksport Animal Shelter.  With the help of local veterinarian Dr. Mark Hanks and Seaboard FCU’s youth volunteers, the credit union raised $1,424 for the shelter and provided vaccines to many four-legged friends in the area.

Zoe’s Club is a youth savings account program that teaches Seaboard FCU’s younger members about financial literacy. The club is inspired by the book, Zoe Finds a Job.  Zoe, the credit union mascot, is a 3 lb. Yorkshire Terrier who has been hired to teach children about the importance of being kind and making wise financial decisions.

Zoe’s Club is designed for kids up to 17 years of age. When opening a Zoe’s Club youth savings account at Seaboard FCU, junior members will receive a copy of Zoe Finds a Job.  To learn more about the program, visit Seaboard FCU’s website.
