Register today to save your spot! The Maine Credit Union League’s 82nd Annual Meeting and Convention is taking place May 15-16 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland. This is your time to network with your credit union colleagues, interact with top industry vendors, hear from subject matter experts, and celebrate this year’s annual award winners.

We need your help to identify and acknowledge those who are making important contributions at their credit unions, in their communities, and for the credit union movement in Maine. Please submit your nominations for the following awards no later than March 6:

  • Jeannette G. Morin Award: Outstanding Credit Union Employee
  • Alexander Ferguson Award: Outstanding Credit Union Volunteer

Keynote Speakers

This year’s inspirational keynote speakers include former New England Patriot Matt Light and renowned author and speaker Dr. Samuel L. Jones.

Matt Light: More Than Just Football

Matt Light is a true team player and champion. Drafted out of Purdue University by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft, he played 11 seasons with the team, helping them win five AFC Championships and three Super Bowl crowns. During his NFL career, Matt graduated from the Wharton School of Business at UPenn, as well as from Harvard Business School’s Entrepreneurial Program.

In 2001, Matt Light and his wife established The Light Foundation, a non-profit organization that exists to give at-risk kids a better chance at leading healthy lives by using the great outdoors to learn and grow. The Light Foundation holds its outdoor leadership camp on over 500+ acres of land in Ohio. Its main mission is to provide kids with opportunities to reach their highest potential and become mentors to their peers and families. In 2008, Matt was presented the President’s Volunteer Service Award by President George Bush for his outstanding work. Matt’s inspiring remarks will highlight his dedication to giving back and detail how his vision and leadership have helped kids become champions in the game of life.

Dr. Samuel Jones – Raising the B.A.R. (Beliefs, Actions, Results)

Dr. Samuel Jones is an author, motivational speaker, and leadership trainer who owns a consulting business called Life Changing Presentations™. His programs impact companies and professionals at all levels by helping people succeed in work and life by discovering their purpose, enhancing their performance, and building partnerships. After growing up in a fatherless home with his grandmother and struggling through high school and college with a speech impediment, Dr. Jones would later spend a year in Finland where he discovered a deeper purpose for his life. He learned the value of service, enhancing performance through lifelong learning, and building partnerships to help others succeed personally and professionally. Dr. Jones will show us how us how to define and evaluate our beliefs by what works and what doesn’t work; capitalize on actions that increase and demand higher expectations; and demonstrate strategies to motivate your team to reach new heights.
