NorState FCU Kicks-Off Hope for the Holidays Food Drive

NorState FCU is hosting its annual Hope for the Holidays Food Drive with special pandemic protocols in place. All donations from this initiative will support local food pantries in Aroostook County.

“In 2019, the food drive collected a record-setting total,” said Elaine Clavette, NorState FCU’s Ending Hunger Director. “This year I pray that our members, neighbors, family, and friends will rally together to donate much-needed food items and bring them to any NorState FCU location. Collection boxes are located in our lobbies. We ask that donors wear a mask and social distance when entering the credit union to keep us all safe during these trying times.”

Channel X Radio is serving as the food drive’s co-sponsor. The station is helping to raise awareness about the effort through on-air advertising.

“Donors can take comfort in the fact that their donation of non-perishable food remains local,” said Susan G. Whitehead, CEO of NorState FCU. “Pantry volunteers work tirelessly to collect donations for their respective pantries. They are the heart and soul of our communities and truly are unsung heroes.”

The Hope for the Holidays Food Drive is going on now through December 31. Monetary donations to support NorState FCU’s Campaign for Ending Hunger fundraising efforts can be made throughout the year.

“The generosity of the people of Aroostook are what pulls us through tough times,” said Denise Duperre, NorState FCU Executive Marketing Director. “We genuinely care about our friends, neighbors, and communities. The success of the food drive is dependent on the generosity of local people or those who may have ties to the County. I am still optimistic going into this year’s food drive. If we can accomplish the same totals or close to that of last year, it would be a blessing.”
