League Annual Meeting and Convention Happening Today

After months of planning, credit union representatives from across Maine are on their way to Portland this morning for the League’s Annual Meeting and Convention. This important networking event is both informative and fun, offering knowledgeable guest speakers, product news, and entertainment.

Synergent and League staff will be onsite all day to answer questions, facilitate educational sessions, and direct attendees to presentations and meetings.

Convention attendees will have an opportunity to hear from the following speakers:

  • Holly Huffman, CBS’ Survivor Nicaragua
  • Gigi Hyland, National Credit Union Foundation
  • Meagan Johnson, Author/Humorist
  • Ben Jordan, Synergent
  • Jim Langer, CUNA Mutual Group
  • Joel Loranger, FBI
  • Todd Mason, Maine Credit Union League & Synergent
  • Stacie VanDenBerghe, CU Innovate
  • Luke Williams, NYU Stern School of Business & W.R. Berkley Innovation Labs

Silent auctions also will be taking place throughout the day in support of two important initiatives:

  • Maine’s Credit Unions Campaign for Ending Hunger
  • CULAC

Bid early and bid often between 11:30 AM – 5:30 PM.

A full copy of the day’s events, as well as the agenda for Saturday, can be found here. Events like these clearly demonstrate the depth and breadth of our credit union network. A full recap will appear in next week’s edition of Weekly Update.

Parking & Accommodations for Attendees

Keep parking in mind!  If you are parking at the Holiday Inn’s Spring Street lot, don’t forget to display your event parking pass. Security personnel will be checking for passes at the entrance of the lot and advising others not attending the convention to park elsewhere. If this lot is full, there is a city parking garage directly across the street at 45 Spring Street.

Spending the night at the Holiday Inn? Convention attendees who are staying overnight can park in the parking area underneath the hotel. If your travel plans include a night at the Westin Hotel, parking is available in the garage adjacent to the Westin hotel on High Street. A shuttle bus from VIP Tour & Charter Bus Company will be running throughout the day and evening between the two hotels.
