KV Chapter Meeting to Feature Local Culinary Arts Students

Members of the Kennebec Valley (KV) Chapter of Credit Unions are in for a special treat when they convene later this month. The April meeting, scheduled on the 30th, will feature a cooking demonstration and meal prepared by students in the Culinary Arts Program at the Capital Area Technical Center (CATC).

“We are thrilled to have these talented young chefs join us at our upcoming meeting,” said Deborah Tondreau, Member Service Supervisor at Connected Credit Union. “These students are award-winning cooks who will undoubtedly prepare a delicious meal.”

Students in the program will be competing in the National Restaurant Association’s Prostart Invitational contest in Washington, DC in May. At the event, nearly 400 student competitors will put their cooking skills to the test. Recently, the students won the Best Chili Division at the Children’s Center Chili Chowder Challenge.

“Executive Chef Heidi Parent leads the program at CATC,” added Tondreau. “You may recall she ranked 3rd on Season 16 of Hell’s Kitchen, so you know these students are being taught by the very best.”
