Holiday Meals for Mainers Returns for 2022

After several days of unseasonably warm temperatures, it might not seem possible that the holidays are around the corner. Soon, Mainers from all corners of our state will be gathering around dinner tables to celebrate the season. But for those facing food insecurity, the holidays can be an especially stressful time.

Last year, Maine credit unions came together to encourage people to donate $5 (or more) to help feed a hungry Mainer in their community during the holidays. Our Holiday Meals for Mainers initiative not only helped us close out our annual Campaign for Ending Hunger fundraising on a strong note, it also raised critical awareness about hunger in our communities and the role we all play to help feed our neighbors in need.

Will your credit union join us again this year and promote this seasonal fundraising effort? The initiative will begin on November 14 and run through December 25.

To help, the League has created several assets your credit union can use to advertise our Holiday Meals for Mainers campaign and raise dollars—money which will go toward your credit union’s 2022 Ending Hunger fundraising total. These materials can be found on the League’s website and include a lobby poster, social media graphics, messaging, and coloring posters for kids. The League also will be working to secure earned media coverage to promote this effort!

Please email Jen Burke or Lauren McCallum if you have questions about the initiative or any of the collateral materials we’ve prepared.

There is no better present to give than the gift of food to someone in need. Together, we can make the season brighter for our neighbors and communities.
