Ending Hunger Golf Tournament Is Going Virtual This September

The League’s annual convention Campaign for Ending Hunger Golf Tournament is an event our credit unions look forward to each spring. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, our popular tournament was postponed to September. Since making that decision, the League has been closely been monitoring the environment to determine if we can safely host a fun event in the fall. After careful consideration, we have decided to move our in-person golf tournament to a virtual format.

We have arranged for golfers to play at one of three locations during the month of September. Foursomes can play at the Mars Hill Country Club, Belgrade Lakes Golf Club, or Dunegrass Golf Club. Golfers will be able to secure a tee time that works for their schedule at a location that is convenient for them, while still competing for Female/Male Best Overall Score. Photos of completed scorecards can be sent to the League for results tracking and tournament winners will be announced in October.  All golfers also will be encouraged to share photos of their golf outing on social media using the hashtag #endinghungergolf to help maintain the collaborative spirit of the event.

Our annual golf tournament is one of the largest fundraisers we hold to support Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. Funds raised at the virtual tournament will help us feed our community and provide more Mainers with access to healthy, nutritious meals.

If you are registered to golf, we hope we can count on your continued support of this event. We are asking all golfers to email League Corporate Marketing Coordinator Olivia Charron, at ocharron@mainecul.org by Friday, August 7 if you plan to golf.  If you do not want to participate and have already paid your golf registration fee, those funds will be returned to you. If you aren’t registered for our event, and would like to participate, the League is accepting additional golf registrations. Contact Olivia for more information.

The League will be recognizing all of the generous tournament sponsors. Each sponsor will be listed on the Campaign for Ending Hunger website, in a letter to Maine credit unions, and on Maine Credit Unions’ social media.

While we wish we could gather together for a fun day of golf, a virtual event will still allow us to play and continue our important fundraising to combat hunger in our state.
