Cannabis Banking Symposium

The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) invites you to their signature cannabis banking event, taking place in Chicago, June 27 – 28. Network with state and federal regulators, credit union leaders, cannabis experts, and industry stakeholders in a two-day, collaborative deep-dive into the cannabis banking policy landscape.

There are complex policy questions for every credit union, whether they seek to bank state-licensed cannabis businesses or decline to enter the cannabis banking space. Similarly, each examiner must possess a functional familiarity with the cannabis industry to assess a credit union’s actual risk profile in states where cannabis production and use has been legalized at the state level.

Throughout the symposium, attendees will learn about the crucial role of vendors in improving programs and how to determine whether third-party assistance or self-contained compliance is the best option. Moreover, the symposium will explore the areas of compliance and audit, which are critical to financial institutions and examiners.

Session speakers include:

  • NCUA Board Member, the Honorable Rodney E. Hood
  • Mario Treto, Jr., Secretary, Illinois Dept. of Financial and Professional Regulation
  • Katrina Skinner, General Counsel and Chief Banking Officer, Simplifya, LLC
  • Thomas Payne, President, Northpoint Commercial Credit, LLC
  • Rachel Pross, Chief Operations Officer, Maps Credit Union
  • Brandon McVey, Drug Compliance Investigator, Illinois Dept. of Financial and Professional Regulation
