The Campaign for Ending Hunger has built many meaningful partnerships over the years—including one with MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital. Through this collaboration, the Campaign has been able to support families in their care who may be facing food insecurity during an already overwhelming time.
Last week, members of the League team had the opportunity to connect with families directly by providing lunch to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). For families with babies in the NICU, long days in the hospital often come with worry, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Something as simple as a hot meal can provide a small moment of comfort when it’s needed most.
The lunch also offered a chance to thank the NICU’s dedicated caregivers, whose compassion and expertise help ensure Maine’s smallest and most vulnerable babies have the best possible chance to grow strong and return home to their loved ones.
Moments like these demonstrate how the Campaign for Ending Hunger brings the credit union philosophy of People Helping People to life by supporting families during challenging times.
