Town & Country Announces 2018 Better Neighbor Fund Nominees

Scarborough, Maine – September 27, 2018 – The final list of non-profit organizations eligible for a share of $25,000 from the Town & Country Federal Credit Union’s Better Neighbor Fund charitable giving campaign have been announced.

The Better Neighbor Fund has already distributed $200,000 in grants since it was introduced in the fall 2010 to support 64 different initiatives designed to support charitable initiatives across Southern Maine. From the final list of 25 nominees, eight grant winners will be decided by public vote and will share the $25,000 funds.
Beginning October 1st through to October 31st, the public can vote for any of the 25 Better Neighbor Fund nominees through the Town & Country Federal Credit Union Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/TownandCountryFCU. The eight charitable organizations with the most online votes will be announced at a special evening event on Thursday, November 8th at Town & Country Center in Scarborough.

The finalists, nominated through Town & Country’s website during September, are the first 25 organizations that best met the qualification criteria outlining specific projects that would benefit the community. They are:

  • Day One
  • Dorcas Society of Hollis and Buxton
  • Falmouth Memorial Library Association
  • First Lutheran Church
  • Frannie Peabody Center
  • Gym Dandies
  • Habitat for Humanity, York County
  • Hope Acts
  • Independence Association
  • Learning Works
  • Maine Academy of Modern Music
  • Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers
  • Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals
  • Mid-Coast Hunger Prevention Program
  • Oasis Free Clinics
  • Preble Street
  • Project GRACE
  • Royal River Conservation Trust
  • Scarborough Education Foundation
  • Spurwink
  • United Way of York County
