Northeast Credit Union Welcomes New Leadership in Information Technology

Portsmouth, NH- Northeast Credit Union (NECU) is proud to announce the hiring of Vice President (VP) Jennifer Day & Assistant Vice President (AVP) George Sutherland to the Information Technology (IT) Team. The addition of their leadership to the credit union brings new innovation, improved processes and higher standards of excellence to both the department and credit union alike.

“We are very excited and fortunate to add Jennifer and George to our NECU team,” states Michael Gagnon, Senior VP & Chief Information Officer. “Their skills, background, and demonstrated leadership presence will be immediately felt as technology continues to advance and drive our efforts to provide exceptional service while helping to improve our members’ financial well-being” concludes Gagnon.

As VP, Day will be responsible for managing the Credit Union’s technology effectiveness and strategic organizational goals. Day was previously the Director of Technology and Information Services for the town of Scarborough, ME. “I am very excited to return to financial services, particularly for an organization that is so community and member oriented,” states Day. “I look forward to contributing to this amazing team.”

Day graduated from Colby College and attended the Institute for European Studies in Vienna, Austria. She earned her Project Management certification from the University of Southern Maine and is a high honors graduate of the National Graduate School of Banking at Fairfield University. She also lived and worked in Washington, DC for nearly ten years, where she served as a lobbyist, political action committee director and member services executive for several national and global trade associations. Currently, she resides in Scarborough with her husband, Jim and their daughter, Bryce.

As AVP of IT, Sutherland will be responsible for the management and support of the Core systems and applications used at NECU. Sutherland comes to the Credit Union with over twenty years of experience in the Financial Services IT field. Most recently Sutherland worked as the Senior Information Officer at Sharon Credit Union in Sharon, MA. “I am excited to be here at NECU. It is a dynamic environment and is committed to serving the community,” states Sutherland. “I am looking forward to using my skills and experiences to help NECU in their mission of delivering exceptional service to their members.”

Outside of his career, Sutherland has been a community champion. Whether it is coaching baseball, softball or football, teaching financial literacy skills to children and teens, serving as a board member of his local Chamber of Commerce, or serving as an elected member of the Board of Selectmen for his town, Sutherland exemplifies sharing love within the communities in which he lives and works.
