Community Credit Union Helps Feed Neighbors at Trinity Jubilee Center

LEWISTON – Recently, Community Credit Union presented Trinity Jubilee Center with a check in the amount of $500. The Trinity Jubilee Center provides support to those in downtown Lewiston six days a week with five programs feeding more than 1,000 people per week. Their food pantry provides groceries to 300 families in need each week and its diaper bank distributes over 4,000 diapers each month.

“We are so grateful for Community Credit Union’s support of our food pantry. There are so many people facing hunger in our community, from your cashier at the grocery store to your child’s classmates at school. Thanks to Community Credit Union, we’re able to provide fresh, healthy food to people in need. We are feeding more than 1,000 people each week and helping them apply for jobs, access medical attention, find housing, and overcome challenges.” stated Executive Director, Erin Reed.

Community Credit Union participates in the Maine Credit Union League’s initiative known as the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger.  Maine Credit Unions have raised over $8 million since 1990 to help end hunger in Maine. At the end of each year, 100% of the money raised by each individual participating credit union is given back to that credit union to be distributed to hunger organization in their community. In 2017, participating Maine Credit Unions raised a new record total of more than $740,000 for the Ending Hunger Campaign.
