Day 1: Stimulus Check Questions

Facebook (or LinkedIn if applicable)

Have you received your #stimuluscheck yet? Many individuals have received their funds via direct deposit. The IRS will start mailing paper checks on April 24 at a rate of 5 million checks per week, a schedule that could last several months.

To see when you’ll receive your payment, to add direct deposit information if you wish, and to learn more about how the program works, please visit the IRS website at https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment. #MaineCUsHere4You

Day 3: Talking to Kids About Money

Facebook (or LinkedIn if applicable)

Talking to your kids about #money?

Let them make mistakes. As a parent, it’s natural to want to shield your children from making a mistake, especially when it comes to their finances. However, a fiscal blunder can become a meaningful learning moment. If they want to spend all of their money on an impulse purchase against your advice, let them. If they have buyer’s remorse after making the purchase, don’t bail them out with your own money. By allowing them to make small missteps early on, they will learn from the experience and hopefully find their financial footing before they are forced to face more impactful fiscal decisions down the road.

Day 4: Deposit Your Stimulus Check

Facebook (or LinkedIn if applicable)

Wondering what to do with your #stimuluscheck? Deposit it! The safest place for your money is in your #creditunion. If you will be receiving a paper check, consider using mobile check deposit. If you do decide to cash your check, we strongly urge you to go to your credit union to maximize your benefit. Do not use a check-cashing service, as they are likely to charge a high fee. #PeopleHelpingPeople #MainersHelpingMainers #MaineCUsHere4You
