Member Service Representative


Dirigo FCU is hiring a Member Service Representative to be on-site at its Lewiston location.

Dirigo FCU is a profitable and fast-growing community credit union headquartered in Lewiston, Maine. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Member Service Representative in our Lewiston office. We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, career-minded professional with the vision, passion, and ability to exceed the expectations of our member-owners. The ideal individual will assist members and potential members with their credit union needs; explain services, set up new accounts, respond to problems and cross-sell products and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Assists members with opening and closing deposit and consumer loan accounts, answers questions about, and cross-sells Dirigo products and services to members.
  2. Resolves problems that are within their authority to resolve; and refers problems that are beyond their authority to their supervisor along with recommendations for resolution.
  3. Maintains member account information and ensures accuracy of data.
  4. Acts as a liaison between members, and other departments or organizations.
  5. Maintains credit union and member records and prepares required reports.
  6. Back up Tellers when needed to provide prompt and accurate transactions for members.
  7. Back up to Consumer Loan Officer in the direct lending channel
  8. Performs a variety of miscellaneous tasks including typing, filing, computer input, scanning and promptly answering member and staff e-mail and phone calls.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:

Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:

  • 6 months to a year of similar or related experience.
  • Strong member service skills.
  • Knowledge of sales and relationship building skills.
  • Knowledge and awareness of all credit union products and services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of computers.
  • Be trustworthy while working with sensitive information.
  • Dependable- Ability to show up to work daily and on time.
  • Accountability – Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
  • Decision Making – Ability to make critical decisions while following credit union procedures.
  • Interpersonal Skills – Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Education Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:

  • High school diploma or GED
