Loan Specialist – Centralized Lending


Community CU is hiring a Loan Specialist – Centralized Lending at its Lewiston location.

To process loan applications and provide convenient loan services by telephone for members and potential members process applications in person when requested to do so.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Takes phone calls, answers loan questions, calculates payments. Takes loan applications on the phone and in-person from members and potential members to document income, debt and credit history; makes lending decisions within credit union policies and guidelines. Explains loan programs to members, evaluates their needs and recommends loan options. Submits application forms to underwriting for a decision and loan servicing for verification of application information; informs applicant of loan denial or acceptance.

Participates in sales development activities including cross-selling off credit reports and making outbound calls. Assists with developing and maintaining relationships for the credit union’s lending programs.

Keeps informed of current trends in consumer credit.

Performs other job related duties as required or assigned.

Performance Measurements:

  1. To maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and co-workers.
  2. Meet or exceed assigned loan volume in total dollars produced and overall loan portfolio balance.
  3. To maintain a dependable record of attendance and timeliness.
  4. To troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly and accurate manner.
  5. Maintain and develop knowledge of current lending policies and procedures.
  6. Perform the process of cross-selling consumer loan requests, make decisions within authority.
  7. Participate in the credit union’s cross-sell program by cross-selling off credit reports and making outbound calls as assigned.
  8. Offer add-on and insurance products to all loan members including GAP, life/disability and service contracts and more.
  9. Assist with developing and maintaining relationships for lending programs including dealerships, sportsman clubs and others as assigned.
  10. Adhere to the Service Standards and Employee Expectations set forth by the credit union.

Requirements:

Experience:

Two years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education:

A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills:

The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.

Other Skills:

Good communication skills, both verbal and written; logical and analytical judgment; 10-key, typing, and keyboard skills.

Work Environment:

This position is designed for onsite work only. Remote work may be offered on a case-by-case and limited basis.
