Loan Processor Team Lead


Midcoast FCU is seeking a Loan Processor Team Lead in Bath to serve as the senior processing subject matter expert and day-to-day operational leader within the Loan Processing team. This role is responsible for actively managing processing queues, monitoring service levels, and ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent communication to members and internal partners. The Loan Processor Team Lead provides leadership support to Loan Processors through mentoring, guidance, quality review, and coverage of pipelines during employee absences. In addition to hands-on processing responsibilities, this role reviews funded loans including consumer, home equity, and related products to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to credit union policies and regulatory requirements. The Loan Processor Team Lead partners closely with the Loan Operations Manager to identify process gaps, recommend improvements, escalate operational risks, and provide feedback related to employee performance, training needs, and workflow efficiency. This role functions as a key liaison between frontline processors, specialists, and management while maintaining production expectations. This is a hybrid position with some in-office work required. The ability to report to a designated branch location is expected.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage and monitor loan processing queues to ensure service level agreements, member expectations, and funding deadlines are consistently met. Prioritize workloads, rebalance assignments as needed, and proactively address bottlenecks or delays.
  • Serve as a functional lead for Loan Processors by providing day-to-day guidance, technical support, and mentoring. Act as a point of escalation for complex processing issues and assist in the onboarding and training of new or developing processors.
  • Process complex consumer and home equity loans as needed and provide full pipeline coverage for Loan Processors during vacations, leaves, or unplanned absences to ensure continuity of operations. Ensure timely and professional communication with members, Loan Officers, Underwriters, branch staff, and vendors. Support resolution of member or internal issues that require elevated processing knowledge or coordination.
  • Review funded consumer and home equity loans for accuracy, completeness, compliance, and adherence to internal policies. Identify trends, errors, or risks and communicate findings to the Loan Operations Manager with recommended corrective actions. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience:

3-5 years of similar or related experience.

Education:

A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
