Loan Officer


OTIS FCU is hiring a highly motivated, reliable, and friendly Loan Officer to join their team. As a member of the lending team, you will assist members with their consumer and real estate lending needs, analyze loan requests (including Indirect Lending), and make credit decisions based on limited lending policy and authorizations. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a passion for helping our members achieve their financial goals.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Interviewing member loan applicants and online applications to develop information concerning their loan needs, earnings, and financial condition.
  • Analyzing the current financial position of members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  • Deciding to approve, disapprove, or forward the loan request to higher levels for decision.
  • Explaining loan programs to members, evaluating their needs, and recommending loan options including appropriate ancillary products.
  • Establishing the terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviewing them with the member.
  • Keeping informed of current trends in consumer credit.
  • Participating in sales development activities.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Experience: 1-3 years of similar or related experience
  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Interpersonal Skills: Motivating or influencing others is a material part of the job. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. The role requires a significant level of trust or diplomacy.
  • Other Skills: Knowledge and proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate.
