IT Manager


Midcoast FCU is hiring an IT Manager at its Freeport location.

Midcoast FCU is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Manager to provide onsite support for the credit union’s IT and communications infrastructure. The ideal candidate will work directly with our third-party vendor as an additional IT resource to ensure adequate safeguards are established, maintained, and monitored. They will be responsible for the consistent deployment of internal and external technology solutions for network and operational needs, as well as manage assigned projects, policies, and new initiatives within areas of oversight.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the credit union IT communications infrastructure is operating efficiently and securely in compliance with financial industry regulations and standards. Monitor department metrics including periodic reports, error logs, and trends. Ensure timely delivery of network application configuration updates, response to help desk tickets, equipment deployment, and other department objectives.
  • Manage the credit union inventory tracking including workstation warranties, scheduled replacement, destructions, and manage licensing when applicable to ensure appropriate access levels and sufficient access points for the credit union’s staffing needs.
  • Assist the Chief Marketing/Information Officer on implementation and maintenance of the network and telecommunications infrastructure. Ensure IT protocols match established credit union standards. Assist as directed with special projects. Complete other job related duties as assigned.
  • Participate in short and long-range planning for the department to select and utilize appropriate technologies to meet the evolving needs of the credit union and its members. Assist the Chief Information Officer on implementation and maintenance of the network and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Ensure credit union remains compliant with internal standards of changing technologies and evolving security protocols.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Five to ten years of similar or related experience

Education: A bachelor’s degree or achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills:

  1. Previous data processing experience including networks, PCs, data communications, mainframe and PC programming and data organization.
  2. Technical planning, project management and supervisory experience.
  3. Ability to discuss technical issues effectively with other data processing professionals as well as non-technical users.
  4. Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  5. Ability to work and travel independently and use general office equipment, give speeches, and make presentations.
