Chief Financial Officer


Midcoast FCU is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide executive leadership over financial stewardship, enterprise risk management, and information technology at its Freeport location. This role partners closely with the President/CEO and Senior Management Team to ensure long-term financial strength, safety and soundness, and operational resilience while supporting our member-focused mission.

What You’ll Do:

As CFO, you will provide enterprise-wide leadership across accounting, finance, asset-liability management, enterprise risk, compliance, BSA, vendor management, and information technology. The CFO will ensure strong internal controls, accurate financial reporting, proactive risk management, and secure, reliable technology infrastructure supporting sustainable growth.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Accounting, Finance & ALM Oversight – Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting, effective balance sheet management, and strong capital and liquidity positions.
  • Enterprise Risk Management – Oversee compliance, BSA, vendor management, audits, and regulatory relationships while maintaining a strong risk governance framework.
  • Information Technology Leadership – Ensure secure, scalable, and resilient technology systems supporting operations, cybersecurity, and member service delivery.
  • Enterprise Leadership – Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, board reporting, and enterprise-wide initiatives while developing executive leaders.

Success in this role is demonstrated through strong financial performance, effective risk mitigation, regulatory confidence, reliable technology infrastructure, well-developed teams, and meaningful contributions to senior leadership decision-making.

What You Bring:

  • 5–10 years of progressive senior leadership experience in finance, risk, or financial services.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry-recognized certifications.
  • Deep understanding of financial institution regulations, GAAP, risk management, and technology governance.
  • Proven ability to influence, coach, and lead executive-level teams with professionalism and integrity.

Work Environment:

This is a hybrid position requiring some in-office presence and periodic travel within the credit union’s service area.
